Early Career Teacher Support

Starting your teaching career can be both exciting and demanding. The Active Schools Project offers flexible, practical support for Early Career Teachers, helping build confidence, develop subject knowledge and create engaging, active learning experiences across the school day.

Our ECT support is designed to fit around the needs of your school. Whether you are looking for a one-off training session, ongoing mentoring or regular in-school support, we can create a package that works for you.

Support can be delivered in a variety of formats, including:

  • Half-day drop-in support (£150). Up to 4 teachers individual "model" lessons and individual goal setting meetings.
  • Full-day training or mentoring (£300). As above (for up to 8 teachers per day), but more potential to include team teaching and collaborative work.
  • 6-week Development Blocks- (half day per week £900/ full day per week £1,800. Our preferred option to embed best practice and personalise training).
  • Bespoke programmes tailored to your school priorities.

Sessions can be structured however suits your setting best, with support available in areas such as:

  • PE curriculum delivery
  • Active learning strategies
  • Lesson planning and progression
  • Behaviour management through physical activity
  • Confidence in teaching PE
  • Observation, feedback and team teaching
  • Developing inclusive and engaging lessons

Our approach is practical, supportive and collaborative, giving ECTs the opportunity to learn alongside experienced practitioners within their own school environment.

Whether your school wants targeted short-term support or a longer-term development programme, the Active Schools Project can provide flexible solutions that help ECTs thrive from the very start of their teaching journey.
